1.Program Evaluation

Welcome Amigos International School implements the NAEYC Standards, which state that “Curriculum, Assessment, and Program Evaluation should be subject to regular evaluations.” We use the ECERS (Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale) tool to assess our program in the fall and spring. The ECERS is an evaluation tool that assesses programs for young children ages two and half through five years. It includes a total of 43 evaluation items that are grouped into seven different sub-scales. The sub-scales include Space and Furnishings, Personal Care Routines, Language-Reasoning, Activities, Interaction, Program Structure, and Parents and Staff. Periodically the ECERS is revised based on research data and professional use/program feedback. 

Administrators, families, staff, and others are involved in an annual program evaluation that measures progress toward the program’s goals and objectives. The annual evaluation will gather evidence on all areas of program function, including policies and procedures, quality, children’s progress and learning, family involvement and satisfaction, and community awareness and satisfaction. A report of the evaluation findings will be shared with families and staff. The program uses this information to plan professional development and program quality-improvement activities as well as to improve operations and policies.

2.NAEYC Annual Parent and Staff Surveys

Parents/guardians and staff are asked to complete a survey at the end of each year. This information helps to assess how the program is meeting the needs of families, as well as to identify strengths and weaknesses of the program to help set program goals for the next year. A copy of a summary report is made available to all parents/guardians and staff, including suggested recommendations and improvements.
