Kindergarten Daily Outline
Full Day (8:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.)

8:55 – 9:00 Arrival Time / Hand wash
Teacher greets arriving children; children hang up backpacks lunchboxes and other belongings
9:00 – 9:30 Social Time
Children’s choice of activity.
9:30 – 9:40 Morning Meeting
Kindergarten starts by joining each other on the carpet while participating in greeting each other, calendar, counting, weather, questions of the day, songs, fingerplays and morning message.
9:40 – 10:10 Math Workshops
Children work on hands-on math concepts as such sorting, geometry, patterning, graphing, number concept, writing numbers, estimating, telling time, counting, measuring, solving problems, addition and subtraction, time and money.
10:15 – 10:25 Wash Hands/Snack Time
This is an important time for conversations and connections; teachers eat with the children and discuss ongoing projects, interests and curiosities.
10:25 – 11:00 Writing and Reading Workshops / Language Arts:
Oral language development/vocabulary. Reading and Comprehension, using sounds and letters, develop writing skills.
11:00 – 11:30 Recess # 1
11:30 – 11:40 Wash Hands/Get Ready for Lunch
11:40 – 12:10 Lunch Time
Encourage good table manners; reflect on their morning activities including reflections on social/emotional learning.
12:10 – 12:30 (DEAR time) Drop Everything And Read!
Children choose a book to read quietly.
12:30 – 1:00 Social Studies / Science Activities
We apply the teaching technique as a group instruction activity: K W L
(stands for helping students to recall what they know about the subject)
(stands for helping students determine what they want to learn.)
(stands for identify what they learn)
Social Studies: The curriculum is oriented toward the family, neighborhood, learning to be good citizens in our community, learning about the past and present, and the world.
Science: Students learn about physical science, earth, space, and life science.
1:00 – 1:30 English Class
Students alternate days to incorporate language arts, writing, reading, math, social studies, and science related to the themes studied during the week in the given subject in English.
1:30 – 2:00 Recess #2
2:00 – 2:30 Art
Primary colors, color mixing, self-portraits, drawing, following directions, abstract art.
2:30 – 2:45 Cleaning and Packing up
2:45 – 2:55 Closing Circle / Daily Reflection About the Day
2:55 – 3:00 Dismissal

 

Afternoon Activities
We offer children the opportunity to experience multiple skills to enhance their learning, confidence, self-esteem, imagination, and academic abilities through enriched afternoon activities.

3:00 – 3:30 Hand Wash/ Afternoon Snack Time
3:30 – 3:50 Independent Learning
3:50 – 4:00 Circle Time (Social Activity)
4:00 – 4:45 Activities of Inquiry
These activities may include cultural diversity appreciation projects, stories, acting scenes, math, yoga, science, music, painting, arts and crafts, reading and writing exercises, drawing on their journal. (These activities are tailored to the child’s interests).
4:45 – 5:00 Outdoor/Indoor Social Play Time/ Dismissal
5:00 – 5:30 After School Care
Pick up begins. Parents’ drift in and chat with the teachers about their day while the kids play.

  

Half Day (1:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.)

1:30 – 2:00 Arrival/Wash Hands/Social Time
At school, parents make connections with other parents and nurture a happy home-to-school transition for their child. Students explore “Discovery” and “Wonder” areas and greet their friends.
2:00 – 2:30 Circle Time
-Gather together as a class and set a positive tone for the day with an engaging social activity
-Introduce or review our “lessons of inquiry”
-Select the students activities of interest for the day
-Determine students responsibilities to their classroom
-Do yoga stretches
-Introduce songs with visual props
-Teach or review numbers, calendar, and reading literacy group activities.
-Do sharing time on the students scheduled day
2:30 – 3:30 Group Table Activity Regarding the Theme of Inquiry/ Wash Hands/Snack Time /(Daily Project/Independent Learning/Open-Ended Project)
Work on our “theme of inquiry” group activity to generate dialog and student’s participation. In addition, we do math, language, writing literacy, science, social studies and art activities.Snack Time is an important time for conversations and connections; teachers eat with the students and discuss their ongoing projects, interests, questions and reflections about our deeds.
3:30 – 4:00 Outdoor Play/Indoor Play (Social Time)
After having a healthy snack with teachers and friends, our afternoon creations during outdoor play may include: Age appropriate games or working on outdoor projects.Teachers engage in students play to encourage them to speak Spanish with each other.
4:00 – 4:45 Group Discussion/Independent Learning in Areas of “Discovery” and “Wonder”/Theme of Inquiry/Independent Reading
Teacher and students interact about their work and class projects and/orindividual work.Make connections with teachers and friends as students select an activity of their choice in “Discovery” and “Wonder” areas.Work on the theme of inquiry. In addition, students are encouraged to read during this time.
4:45 – 5:00 Transition Time/Closing Time/Afternoon Dismissal
Parents are encouraged to drift in and chat with the teachers about the students day while their children play.
